As a large supermarket chain, Costco has handled too many recalls in the past: for example, last month, the company had to recall two mixed powders from Kraft Heinz. According to a report by Southern Life, consumers were asked to return the product to a Costco store near them, suspecting that the bottle contained small pieces of metal or glass. In August of this year, the company recalled Fratelli Beretta Uncured Antipasto, which includes a variety of cured ham products such as prosciutto, salami, salami and coppa (via Eat This, Not That). Unfortunately, these items are believed to have caused dozens of salmonella cases.

Costco is currently resolving another recall involving Northern Lights brand candles. According to the statement on the official Northern Lights website, the product that needs attention is the Alaura two-color canned candle sold only at Costco. According to the announcement, Costco has contacted all customers who bought candles and notified them of the recall.

According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, Costco’s Northern Lights candles were recalled on December 16 because of concerns that the cans would break when they burned and pose a risk of fire and cuts. Alaura two-color canned candles are sold in glass containers with metal lids. There are two fragrances to choose from: Frosted Forest and Vanilla Biscotti. These candles are available this year in Costco stores for $17 (from Nottingham MD).

People who have purchased candles are asked to avoid using them and take them back to Costco's warehouse for a refund. Customers who cannot go to Costco can choose to contact Northern Lights through its website to learn about the next steps and get a refund. Things seemed serious: there were at least 138 reports of broken jars and three lacerations.
