Northern Lights recalls Alaura canned candles sold at Costco due to tearing and fire hazards

Nottingham, MD — Northern Lights, Inc. is recalling approximately 139,500 Alaura canned candles sold at Costco.

The recalled canned candles will shatter, rupture or rupture when they burn, causing tearing and fire hazards.

The recall involves Alaura brand two-color tin candles. Two-color candles are contained in decorative glass containers with metal lids. They have two fragrances; Frosted Forest and Vanilla Cookies. "Alaura Candles" is printed on the sticker on the bottom of the glass container.

Aurora Borealis has received 138 reports of broken, cracked or ruptured jar candles, including 3 reports of lacerations.

From August 2021 to September 2021, these candles will be sold online at Costco Wholesale Warehouses and www.costco.com nationwide for approximately US$17.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled candles and return them to any Costco for a full refund. Consumers who are unable to return the candles to the Costco warehouse can contact Northern Lights via email cr@northernlightscandles.com for instructions on how to cut the candle wick, provide this verification to Northern Lights, and then discard the candles until they receive a full refund.

Costco also directly contacted all known purchasers.
