A story regarding an accident caused by a glass jar of spaghetti sauce smashing through the windshield of a pickup truck on Route 96 in Ovid last Friday was certainly unique when we first reported it but now it has taken an unexpected turn that should have the public alarmed.

We are now learning from the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office about two other incidents that happened last Wednesday involving glass jars being thrown at moving vehicles by the occupants of an oncoming car.  Investigators say all three incidents happened at night. The first incident on Wednesday resulted in a property damage accident and the driver from Friday night suffered a head and eye injury after driving off the road.

The Sheriff’s Office is actively pursuing leads and is seeking help from the public.

If anyone has any information, they are asked to contact Lt. Thompson by phone at (315) 220-3449 or by e-mail at tthompson@co.seneca.ny.us. Information may be kept confidential.
