"I recommend against the use of fabric softener for a few reasons, but mostly because it can leave a waxy handfeel on your laundry and make your towels less absorbent. To keep laundry soft, I use these dryer balls with no or low heat. If you miss the smell of fabric softener, try adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil to one of the balls and tossing it in the dryer for a few additional minutes after your laundry is done."
