Summer is just around the corner, which means that we will again be eating more fresh and juicy fruit.

But if you do not devour it upon purchase, fruit has a tendency to develop mold or rot.

As nobody wants that, you may be interested in this brilliant hack that one Alabama woman recently shared to TikTok.

Steph Gigliotti, who is known on the video-sharing app as @stephgigliotti28, posted her method for keeping fruit fresh on May 17, along with the caption: "Fresh fruit hack! #kitchenhacks #kitchentips."

So, what does the trick entail?

Well, the footage begins with Gigliotti opening her large chrome fridge, which is crammed full of neatly organized food.

She then pulls out a glass jar of strawberries, while telling viewers: "Not sure if you knew this. I found this tip a couple of months ago so I've been testing it out and it works so well.

"If you put your fruit, like strawberries, in a glass jar in the refrigerator they stay fresh for two to three weeks. Weeks! I have been testing it out and it works amazing."

The clever hack has since been viewed more than 7.2 million times, and received 1 million likes.

Many have flooded the comments section with their appreciation of the hack.

One TikTok user, Carole Jeremy Shaffe, wrote: "Strawberries go bad so fast I stopped buying them."

Another person, Elizabeth Garcia, added: "Put in glass jar because I am adult that doesn't know how to care for fruits or veggies. Thank you!"

Elizabeth Evaline Ea typed: "I put all of my produce in jars now. I prep it all on grocery day so I only have to open the jar and go when it's time for dinner."

ItIsNotJenn commented: "I literally just SPRINTED to my fridge to move my strawberries into a glass container!"

Paola Mari also shared an additional tip for the method, writing: "I do the same, but place a folded napkin on the bottom and the top and it'll absorb all the moisture so they don't get soggy!"

TikTok is awash with many brilliant hacks for home and life.

Recently, a woman shared her tip for selecting a ripe avocado, and we had never heard of it before.

The video was posted on May 2 by Shannon Doherty, known online as @athomewithshannon.

She asks: "Did you know there is a trick for when an avocado is perfect?"

The TikTok creator then holds up the fruit before instructing viewers to "pick off the little stem..." explaining that if "it's green it is perfectly ripe."

She adds that if it's "brown... it's not ready!"
