Garda Chris Daly stated that these crimes were committed by 28-year-old Gavin Carroll on August 17, 2019, when the defendant and the victim were attending a wedding banquet at the Oriel House Hotel.

Shortly before 1:00 in the morning, brief conversations and quarrels took place in the multifunctional hall.

Garda Daly said that Gavin Carroll seemed to walk away, but he picked up the glass bottle from the table.

"Gavin Carroll hit him in the face, causing serious tears between his eyes and ears," Garda Daly said.

Garda Daly said that when a shard of broken glass hit her, a young woman in the area was cut in the arm. This led to a second accusation of assault.

Garda Daly said that in addition to hitting the man with glass, "Gavin Carroll also picked up a chair and hit him with the chair."
